nothing, went to PBS got some real news on what is going on: cuts to special ed, Medicaid, dump's statements in Israel and effects, etc. with some analysts and not scarifying crap. And god knows PBS is not the best, but we don't have any other M$M news in the U$ of A.
You have to go to Le Monde, The Guardian, BBC, Buzzflash, Commondreams, etc. M$M is yellow journalism shock and scare!

The "scare" is not "crap," for God's sake.
IT JUST HAPPENED. That is why the story dominates.
Disgusting.

(17,641 posts)instead of reporting there is much speculation to fill time and I don't call that reporting, it is a distraction of what is really going on. Yes report what happened in Manchester but other serious things are going on.

(26,060 posts)mentioned will still be true tomorrow and the next day. last night and this morning there are still children missing, perhaps blown up - gee, so sorry you can afford to be thinking about something else. How about realizing how lucky you are this didn't happen to you rather than whining about the coverage. May the dead rest in peace.

(31,464 posts)They're not running the same video over and over just for you. I was watching a movie and didn't hear about the bombing until late. If I had turned on one of the major news channels and they were doing a story about Medicaid cuts -- which has already been in the news for days, if not weeks -- I would have immediately flipped the channel until I found someone who was covering the biggest news story of the moment.
It's not all about you.

(108,977 posts)while DIFFERENT reporters and commentators were off-screen, talking about the attack. If you wanted to HEAR the information that was being presented, you had to listen at the same time you viewed the video recycling over and over and over. Enough already! At the least they should have done a split screen, so there would have been something else to look at while listening to the story, besides the same 15 second reel.

(3,975 posts)As an advocate for elderly poor and disabled, I expected this. My people get hit first and hit HARD. TV doesn't care about these people. Schock and awe terrorism coverage plays right into Cheeto and the Rs plans. Find this truly disgusting. My people, AND ME, will be just as dead as the Manchester folks.

But only if it is immediate blood, not mid and long term blood like health care, etc.

(85 posts)1) A suicide bombing targeting and killing young women in England is kind of a big deal. A better criticism is how little coverage similar weekly bombings in places like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan get.
2) I am starting to believe that many are seeing the GOP and Trump with different eyes and realizing they do nothing to make us more safe. Especially Trump, who is bigly messing up our national security.

(5,829 posts)Accd to scroll at bottom, Rep Cummings was to be on Maddow and O'Donnell, who was ditched altogether f/ occasional ghoul Brian Williams, was going to talk w/ Sen Warren. What we got instead was continuous loops of the same short, frantic vids and reports about what wasn't known mixed w/ speculation and conjecture. More informative to keep most of scheduled shows and update on Manchester events.
Not exactly yellow journalism, but too repetitive to be worthy of news shows.
I watched Pirates get beat by Braves instead. (Didn't enjoy that either. 😏
