Nonprofit executive Kara Eastman will seek Democratic nomination in 2nd Congressional District!!

By Robynn Tysver / World-Herald staff writer May 23, 2017 Updated 6 hrs ago

Kara Eastman may not be the most well-known Democrat in Omaha but she clearly is the quickest on the draw, as the nonprofit executive became the first to announce her bid for Congress.

Eastman, 45, said Monday that she will seek the Democratic nomination in the Omaha-based 2nd District in the hopes of running against Republican U.S. Rep. Don Bacon next year.

Eastman will almost assuredly face competition from other Democrats, including a possible bid by former U.S. Rep. Brad Ashford of Omaha — the man Bacon defeated last year.

Eastman said she will run whether or not Ashford jumps into the race.
