1. People are giving voters too much credit......

1) They won't remember this budget in a year and a half.
2) Even if the budget affects them they won't blame Trump or the Republicans. They always find some way to blame Liberals and Democrats.

Also, say what you will about this horrible budget but mark my words what will happen is they are opening negotiations from a radical far right wish list perspective and will be lauded by the press, the Republican base and even some Democrats when it ends up being only ridiculously right wing and not hideously ridiculously right wing.

Then when Democrats take control again we'll have to do our usual business of starting from a moderately, vaguely left of center negotiation point and winding up in the center.

10 steps backward, 5 steps forward. It's the modern American political way.

3. I've learned to be pessimistic politically....

..and yet as pessimistic as I am I still manage to be shocked and disappointed on a regular basis.

Let's hope you're right and I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not in the crowd that wants Trump impeached. I see zero difference between him and Pence except that one puts a politically correct "serious Washington" face on it. I want Trump to stay on and hang around their necks like a rotting albatross carcass.

I would like to see Trump hang out a while myself and continue to destroy the Republican party.

Nancy Pelosi as the first woman President. Wouldn't that just make McConnell's head explode.

8. It's not a matter of that.....

.....it's a matter of the longer term damage. If Pence becomes President, he will win re-election mark my words.

I already see the spin with folks like my father in law, who is a Republican but who loathes Trump and didn't vote for him. He's angry and afraid about Trump and also at his enablers. But the minute I say, "Remember that if he is impeached or quits. That every single Republican INCLUDING Pence enabled this behavior and his actions" my FIL starts hedging and going "Well, I don't know that Pence knows all that is going on....he's just vice president".

And the media will do the same thing. In the long run Pence is just as dangerous as Trump is, probably more so.

Don't worry, they will continue to pile up exponentially.

You know, assuming we are all still alive to hold an election.

If so, then Trump's idiot fuckhead worshipers will endorse it wholeheartedly regardless of how badly they themselves get screwed.
