Man Trapped Inside His Own Body Reveals The Heartbreaking Truth 12 Years Later

He was a typical boy who was born healthy and grew up normal and beloved by his parents. But when Martin Pistorius turned 12, a debilitating illness began to take over his body. The doctors didn’t know how to help, and before long, Martin was completely paralyzed of mind and body.

Twelve years passed until Martin started to come back around. His progress was slow and at first wasn’t even noticed by those around him. When he finally woke back up, he revealed a painful truth: one that no one ever expected…

-snip-

One woman would even come into the room and straddle Martin to simulate sex with him. She would touch him inappropriately, make him feel worthless and completely powerless. He wanted to run, to complain to stop what was happening to him. Or at least to tell someone what they were doing to him, if only to get it to stop. And despite wanting to give up, Martin kept on living, hoping that one day he might be free…

Make sure you have an ad-blocker for the story here which is more detailed than the NPR linked by MineralMan. I'm providing the NPR link in this OP, but it is not as detailed as my ad-laden link. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Less detailed NPR link.

Un-fucking-believable. How cruel. What this man went through is my worst nightmare.

1. I'd be interested in reading that, but I went to the link

and could hardly find the text of the article among the countless ads and interruptions. So, I bailed and came back here.

It's not your fault, and I don't know if this story is available anywhere else, but it is truly unreadable at your link. Sorry.

I did a quick Google search on this person's name and found a perfectly readable account at this link:

http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/01/09/376084137/trapped-in-his-body-for-12-years-a-man-breaks-free

If anyone wants to read it, it will be easy there, unlike at the clickbait site linked to in the OP.

For the writer of the OP of this thread: Search Google for another source if the source you have is filled with ads and delays that prevent people from accessing the information.

2. Thanks for providing that.

I didn't notice any ads or anything (I'm on PC) with ad-blocker. The only thing I had to do was click an arrow to advance to the next session.

Thanks for providing a readable link, though, I haven't read it to see if it's the same article or not. The NPR link may actually be detailed.

I'll edit my OP to include your link, as well.

3. In case you missed my edit:

The NPR story doesn't address some of the other cruel things. He was raped, as well, by a caretaker. They would feed him scalding hot soup. They would rattle his teeth with a metal spoon when feeding him.

They took turns punching him and pulling his hair. They basically didn't care about his pain or his situation.

It's truly more awful than the NPR link you provided.

4. There are a number of stories about that young man's

ordeal on the Internet. He has also written a book.

5. Didn't know that. Also, wasn't aware of the ads.

On my PC, I had no issue. Anyway, I provided your link in OP as an option, too.

6. Additional information, with multiple sources, in his Wikipedia bio

Martin Pistorius on Wikipedia
