I was driving her to the Doctor for an appointment. I asked if she had read about Trump's............that's all I got out of my mouth, when she countered with......
"I'm having a nice drive and you have to bring up that bastard's name, I just want him fucking gone"

(1,103 posts)since 45 has come onto the scene, it has really gone into the toilet! I'm ashamed of myself as I used to have strong punishment for my sons' poor language choices growing up.

(4,033 posts)I've posted a few times her "rough" comments. Thing is growing up, it was "damn, hell, son of a bitch", and the
F bomb has just appeared and it always has to do with politics.

(25,259 posts)Wish I had a dad like that
They were Democrats in the early 60s
Then they voted for Nixon and became Republicans
They deteriorated with each administration.
My dad had these right wing buddies that kept feeding him to the Kool-Aid.
He was really into the Clinton Whitewater-Vince Foster conspiracy theories.
My dad died not knowing about Trump/Russia.
I know he didn't like Trump, especially the Pu$$y grabbing and wasn't going to watch the debate between him and Hillary.
I wonder what he would have thought about the Russia stuff.
He was a big neocon.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)safely through this. It sounds as if your dad was at least spared some painful political moments, though.

(420 posts)and a lifelong Republican (very moderate). Finally voted for BO in 2012 and was completely ALL IN for Hillary this year. She hates tRump as much as I do, shakes her head every time he is on TV, laughs at him and says over and over "I can't believe anyone would vote for him"!! This church going woman can't believe any Christian would even think of voting for him and thinks they are all big hypocrites!!

(58,785 posts)our republic, but I'm happy to know that our kids and their spouses are solidly on the side of the America of our founders' liberal democratic ideals.
Including our daughter, who's naturally moderately conservative--like your mother, but she also didn't swallow the Kool-Aid and rejected it by voting for Obama and Clinton. Lol. Guessing our daughter's the one most likely to have to listen to her strong liberal mother ranting at the screen when I'm 95.
Your mom is great. That's how I feel too.

(4,033 posts)Her first Presidential election was in 1952 and she voted for Adlai Stevenson. She & my Dad were Union members. Me and my 3 brothers are all Democrats and Union members. My 8 nieces and nephews are all registered Democrats, however, unfortunately none are Union members. None have jobs that are represented by Unions.

(7,358 posts)campaign, that's Adlai Ewing Stevenson II in the 50s. I don't know if it's a good thing that she's glued to MSNBC at night. She also never misses the PBS news hour. She watches almost every show up to Brian Williams and then goes to bed. Every night. I don't know how she can stand it.
