Sounds like the insurance industry is taking someone to the cleaners.

(22,143 posts)I had to get my own insurance. I was truthful on my application and listed migraine headaches on the form. The customer service rep said "I was lucky if I would be approved for coverage!" My migraines were once per month and controlled with an Imitrex injection which I self injected.

(16,374 posts)When my very small company couldn't get affordable insurance because small business policies were dropped by the insurance companies for having too many claims, there were NO individual policies for anyone with any kind of preexisting condition. I searched the internet and finally found a writing association that took me. In 5 years, the price climbed from $500 a month to $1,400. At that point I applied for and was issued a policy in the Illinois state pool at $700+ by the time I finally got Medicare, the state policy had gone up to $1,400.
