Winning these seats would be a moral booster but in no way is an indicator of how well we will do in the midterms. We lost all of the specials in 2006 and 2005 but still dominated in the midterms.

you have to remember, these have all been in HEAVILY Republican districts. we might see this all as a disaster, but many repubs are still satisfied w/ how things are going.

The fact that the repubs hold onto a seat in a state Trump won by more than 26 points is hardly a surprise or something to start freaking out over, especially if the Democrat makes it a reasonably close vote.

This was good, and we'd have taken the seat if he'd have shown his colors just a couple of weeks sooner.

As it is there's massive regret already in the state for electing him on literally day one. That's a win in my eyes.

That's Montana - a cow town, ranching, cowboy state. I think the only place there might be more dems/libs is Missoula and maybe Helena. The rest of the state would be red and republican. I lived up there for awhile back in the 90s and it is very republican and 'murican.

It would have been a nice if the dem won, but I wasn't holding breath.

The deplorables to the rescue!!

These rural white people are such friggin' hypocrites.

Obama was only half right...they cling to their guns and religion.

What he didn't say was they are total hypocrites. They vote continuously for people that Jesus would scorn.

This past election completely changed my perspective on rural white folks. They are either blind, dumb as a box of rocks or just simply bigots.

It's obvious Trump was a bad guy.

If you just read ANYTHING you would know Republicans care only about rich, white people.

You support those kind of creeps you are one of them!

We work hard out here to keep Democrats on the ballot. We do what we can to convince people. We are changing a few minds at a time.

Right now, rural Democrats are working with the newer grassroots organizations and helping them coordinate with the existing central committees, local and state parties.

Cut the crap. It is as stupid as the South bashing that I see here. I will not have my hard work dismissed by someone who doesn't live and work in a rural area,

I lived in rural Iowa for a decade. Read that post by the black farmer from today. It's REAL.

I'm not saying anything about you or people that work hard out there to change minds. It's to be commended not dismissed.

But NOTHING will change if we don't acknowledge the facts.

I saw with my own eyes and ears that soft bigotry in the way people talked about and treated others. Not ALL people, but a LOT of them.

Hell I had a roommate that never met a non white person until he was 18. He was a real bastion of inclusion.

These people are out there in large numbers and their voting record does not support the values they claim to hold.

The first step in solving the problem is acknowledging you have one.

White people, rural whites in particular, are doing everything in their power to keep political relevance.....even if they have to ignore President Private Parts horrid behavior.

I’m sick of wating for these dumb hateful people to finally get it.. But sadly, for the most part, the only way things will change? is when the die off... Yep, the amount of pain and suffering they cause the rest of our world, I wish them the worst.

Fucking Period!

I tell my kids all the time their generation needs to get out there, run, and take the reigns. My generation as a group just isn't going to change.

They will cling to political relevance no matter what it takes.

They vote in a President who, as President is just the same tool bag he showed us during the election cycle.
They vote in people who gerrymander districts to ensure their mostly white male seats.
They vote in people who pass laws to restrict voting for non-whites.

We have to see this morally repugnant behavior for what it really is....clinging to white political power at all costs.

Like I said in the other post, the first step to solving a problem is acknowledging you have one...

for appointing a Cabinet official who is a sitting office holder, is the likelihood of being able to keep that position within the party of the nominator/nominatee. It makes things difficult at best, impossible at worst, to flip the elected position to the other party.
