undone when questioned on the issues. That Gianforte still has a charge to deal with.

(115,674 posts)And because some 2/3 of the ballots have already been mailed in, beating up a reporter the night before the election probably won't change the results. So Montana's deplorables will get what they voted for, even if they didn't know it at the time.

(23,307 posts)Some of us...in fact many of us voted early for Rob Quist. While there aren't a lot of us up here, a bunch of us voted against the thug. I resent your comment that we shit and and fell back in it. This is a heart break of an election and it'd be nice if the progressives up here in Big Sky Country could count on finger pointers like you to be supportive in our efforts to change things and if you can't manage that then go away and shut the hell up. Just saying. G'night.

(59,583 posts)Which is more than I could really afford, but I thought it might help.
Maybe it did. Hell, I can't even tell any more.

(23,307 posts)I'm sure it did help if only to tell the KGOP that Montana isn't a fucking giveaway. For the record, I'm still resisting. A lot of us are still resisting and the resistance didn't shit and fall back in it. We're creeping on the right and they'd better keep an eye on the rear view mirror.

People in that part of the country see nothing wrong with an East coast Jew getting pummeled. I say this as someone who grew up in that area before escaping.
Bad night for us--Quist got blown out--but a useful reminder that we face a steep, steep climb in a country that's so culturally backwards outside the major cities.

I didn't know that type existed until I moved to Las Vegas and started frequenting sportsbooks. Suddenly I was surrounded by young white males who prioritized hatred, bigotry and fear at every opportunity. It wasn't a full day unless you combined all three.
From that point forth I've never doubted what they were capable of, the lies they were willing to swallow. It's actually somewhat surprising it took this long for a right wing politician to grasp the legion of ignorance he had at his calling.

(3,040 posts)They will continue to be such and they will continue to win races. I don't know the solution, but the Democrat's current strategy to win races is not working. We need a serious reboot or we will continue to lose these races.

(6,974 posts)Really don't care what people think who didn't like what that clown Gianforte did in assaulting that reporter--As long as their base sticks with and doesn't turn on them. You see how they couldn't really be bothered about russia interfering into our elections or about tRumputin's hideous actions bordering on treason--they just want him to remain in the White House long enough so that they can do to this country what they want to IE: Destroy the safety net that the elderly, poor, veterans and children rely on. Pay dust to income inequality, destroy that blah man's health care bill for everyone else yet KEEP their Obamacare/Cadillac health care which we tax payers pay for that they and their families enjoy, give huge tax cuts to the richest who don't need them, and make sure that they hold onto power and win the House Seats they need by any means necessary (Gerrymandering/voter suppression) so that they can start in on changing the Constitution to suit their own *evil* purposes.
To be honest, I rather have Dem Jon Ossoff win that race in Georgia's 6th vs that dimwit Handel. He definitely has a shot. I never thought that Quist had a real shot to beat Mr. Body slam.

(25,183 posts)when political pressure is applied. Not saying that the Democratic governor of Montana will be any part of that, but at the county level, anything can happen. And, it's a misdemeanor, it can be pleaded down to something lesser.
This will be "fixed" before Gianforte shows up in D. C. to take his oath.

(13,776 posts)There might be a payout in the end, but business as usual! The GOP will con their supporters as long as they show them the GOP is tough and they can push people around without consequences of any proportion!
