Texas Lieutenant Gov (R) & House Speaker (R) Lock Horns over Bathroom Bill

https://www.texasobserver.org/dan-patrick-joe-straus-bathroom-bill-legislature/

Background:

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) has been pushing SB6 - the Texas equivalent of the bill passed in North Caroline that cost that state around $4 Billion dollars in lost revenue. The Texas Speaker of The House, John Straus (R), has been resisting this, realizing the negative effect it will have on the Texas Economy.

After threats and pressure from Patrick, Straus allowed a watered down bill to pass the House affecting public schools only - now Patrick is threatening a full out assault, holding the State budget hostage and threatening special session(s) until his version of the bill is passed (BTW - Special Sessions are for the Governor to call - not Patrick's).

Meanwhile Gov. Abbott has been mostly silent (probably realizing the blowback that would result - when businesses start boycotting the state - if this boondoggle were to pass).

Anyway - things are getting interesting down in Texas, where everything is bigger - including the idiocy, hypocrisy and lunacy.

A number of groups including businesses and even the NFL have warned Texas about the devastating effect this would have on the Texas Economy - it cost N.C. around $4 Billion - Texas could easily quadruple that and worse.
