As a common citizen, what I would like to see done about this Russian scandal?

First of all, I would like for Chuck Shumer and Mitch McConnell to come together and realize that we have a crisis on our hands. We cannot afford to be so divided at this time in our history.

In my opinion, they should create an independent, bi-partisan commission to look at all the players in this scandal. Nero fiddled while Rome burned. They should act with the utmost urgency.

Our country is in a much deeper crisis than the political leaders in Washington seem to realize. We are on the verge of losing our democracy. It is much closer than anyone can imagine.

The political leaders in Washington are under the illusion that they have the power to control this situation. They do not. The rug can be pulled from under them at any moment. Our democracy is much more fragile than they believe.

As a common citizen, I want the politicians to work together to get to the truth. I want it done as quickly as possible. I want the "fake news" shoved off the table and let the facts and evidence speak for themselves.

They care more about their careers than about our country, it seems? They seem incapable of thinking beyond partisan politics and the next election?

McConnell refused to hold hearings on Garland, he said "The next president will nominate a SC judge" He KNEW who that would be. There is a recording of McConnell and Ryan discussing laundering Russian donations through the RNC. I wonder how much of that was accepted into their own Pacs (retirement savings funds)??

That's the problem. Russians offer money and Republicans line up to get it. They put party over country and self over party.

Mitch McConell to disappear from government, also, if he was implicated with Russia and the campaign, then I would like to see him in jail.

He is the champion of obstruction, to wish for him to do something for the country is a dream, or may be a nightmare.

is flawed in that he has none. He is for himself and the GOP. We have to look elsewhere.

More and more I believe that many in the GOP strive for a one party system where the do not govern but rule.

McConnel got $ through the Ukraine and how did he know that if stalled
until after the election he would get somebody else for SCOTUS? And Ryan
is on tape telling other GOP people to be quite about Trunp getting Russian
$$$ and his other campaigns used the data from the Russian hacking too.

in a "normal" political sense that would be the optimum solution...

but this isn't normal...

Little by little we've let talk radio and campaign finance reform fall by the wayside so now all that matters is sensationalism 24/7 on the airwaves and how much campaign money from the oligarchs flows into the campaign coffers...

The repubs have the cash to buy almost any election and the gerrymandering of 2010-2011 sealed it tight! Those a-holes in DC don't work for us, they work only for themselves and those who finance their campaigns.

It didn't happen all at once...it happened in small increments since the "Austrians" decided to overturn The New Deal all the way back to 1947...they almost did it with Goldwater in 1964 but learned the lesson of public manipulation which grew the think tanks. The think tanks grew trickle-down and Reagan and during his administration the deregulation of broadcasting and ABC proclaiming that TV news was a "profit center not a public service"...

It's complicated but we've fallen for false patriotism and dedication to a vision of America that never existed spouted loudly and relentlessly from the Repub party. There is no easy solution as far as I can tell.

But, I hope something positive can come a different perspective. It is very easy to give up in times like these, but if everyone else falls by the wayside, we must be ready to stand for our country and for democracy, in the most general sense.

The acorn has to be planted for a tree to grow. And even a blind pig can find an acorn every once in a while.

He is a major player in this drumpfest of criminal activity and should be locked up with the rest of them. Hopefully our CIA and NSA are actually legit and not a GOP patsy group like Comey and the FBI seem to be. See where Mueller goes with this. If we're not satisfied we keep going until we are. This coup has got to be stopped asap for the good of the majority in this country and the world.

There is a way that when the GOP wises up enough to try to salvage their House and Senate they would restore it to Hillary:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_Two_of_the_United_States_Constitution#Clause_6:_Vacancy_and_disability

In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

Congress at any time can make law to restore it to Hillary.

I know, very unlikely. But if the GOP want to survive as a party this is about the only way for them.

Regardless, if Pence ascends then his VP has to be approved by Congress, so like Ford in 73 and Rockefeller in 74, a truly moderate VP would have to be proposed if the GOP wants to survive.

I'd like to see McConnell in an orange jumpsuit even more than Trump. We need to get rid of Trump, but if GOP leadership is left in tact, we'll be down this road again. If they can come up with someone worse than Bush, they can come up with someone worse than Trump.

Today is a good day to contact your senators & reps!
