has to be turned over to the National Archives. Let's see if that actually happens.

To stroke egos and curry favor.

As for following the rules, I am not going to hold my breath on the "turn over" of gifts here.

Thanks for the reply, The Velveteen Ocelot.

What I wonder, is the significance. What other world leaders have been treated with the same ($) welcome and what kind of tradition this is Saudi Arabia. Naming a road after him is a sign they have his number, if you know what I mean. Wondering if he's got a building planned for that roadway...

Thanks for the reply, safeinOhio.

and every copy is an exact copy, bu no one seems to know where the original came from. And there's no guarantee that this urdu quote wasn't translated from the copy going around,

Haven't seen this on Snopes yet, but the huge yacht was built somewhere, and Lloyd's List knows where an what its home port is. There aren't that many mega yachts out there, and they aren't that easy to hide.

Adding all this stuff up and it's at least half a billion. No way the Saudis are going to give that to Trump. Or anyone else.

A $200 million sword? really, now.

Intended to actually materialize?

Now, I'm wondering if I should self delete. I didn't see the English version.

Thank you for the reply, TreasonousBastard.

https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/6dt8n7/shah_salman_gifts_items_to_trump_worth_12_billion/

"If you read Arab media they spread this "news" since 3 days.

So far they claim Trump got:

Rare and expensive precious stones and diamonds.
A rare pistol of pure gold with a picture of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on the handle.
A sword of pure gold, weighing more than 25 kg (55.1 pounds) of gold studded with diamond and rare stones worth more than $ 200 million (so he can continue with his interest in sword dancing)
25 pieces of jewelry made of diamonds and gold for Trump and his family, valued at about $ 200 million.
More than 150 watches with gems for him and his family in different sizes; they will be shipped off the US presidential plane to Washington.
A miniature statue of the American Statue of Liberty made of gold, diamonds, rubies will be produced It will be transferred in a private cargo plane to the White House and US President Trump.
A yacht worth $ 800 million length of 125 meters, is the longest yacht in the world, especially for personal use. It featuring 80 rooms with 20 suites, a royal and most of its components of pure gold; it will be transferred back to the United States by the US Navy.

And my all time favorite:

In addition, the Saudis have committed to carve a statue of Trump to be displayed in Riyadh which will be placed on Riyadh’s largest street, itself to be named for Trump in appreciation for the United States confronting Iran and its allies.

Arab twitter is always fun

//Edit: Its also factual wrong. The longest yacht in the world is 180 meters, with a price of $600M and features funny stuff like a small submarine and a missile defense system. Its the Azzam, owned by Chalifa bin Zayid Al Nahyan. (UAE)

It's not the longest, it's the tallest if I read things with not enough coffee correctly."

It's close enough to the thing that's going around. May even have been posted on DU already.

still not on Snopes, but no doubt they'll have something soon.

I think it's as fake as fake news gets, but no reason to delete the post-- since this is going around, might as well talk about it.

Some of it might even be a little truthful. Just sone.

Thanks for this TreasonousBastard. I am going to journal it and hopefully I will remember to check back and we can see if indeed the gifts show up. I'd like to see the loot and some film of the Navy running that boat home would be fun. What an duty station that would be, hey?

Thanks again!

With the setting of "detect language" to translate into English. That was the result. I suppose I could use another translation tool and see what it says but I am really not that motivated.

Thanks for the reply, TexasProgresive.
