So feel free to trade Trump vs. Merkel, but give some notice so MPs can prepare.

Let's say there's a fellow politician. You want to get rid of him, but he's too popular and powerful for you to reduce him to a smaller role.
So, what do you do?
You promote him to a position far away, where he can do totally unrelated stuff and he's out of your way.

On a related note, I think planet Earth needs a governor on the Moon, to make sure that all the space-treaties concerning multilateral ownership of the moon are properly enforced.

The UN has a department whose sole mission is to be ready for a first-contact scenario with aliens from outer space. I think, Trump would make an excellent head of department for this.
