(18,124 posts)no one else should be a RW cuck and feel ANY sympathy for this creature called our potus. It was comedy, pure and simple. All his flaws remain and no one who knows what a bigoted, sexist, racist potus he is will be distracted and whine about how "our poor potus is so disrespected". Fuck that. He disrespects the Office of our Presidency. Fuck trump and his whole administration.

I'm probably a hypocrite for this but this stunt doesn't bother me a bit while the many Obama lynchings in effigy did bother me. Sarah Palin's target map that probably got Gabby Giffords shot bothered me. The mountains of shit they dumped on Hillary bother me.
But this? nah. If that makes me a hypocrite then I can live with being a hypocrite.

IF she's since apologized welp .
Sorry, but this liberal is not a WUSSY, and I won't allow thuglicans to pin what Griffin did on me, altough if that's what she wanted to do, then so be it.
I Didn't see all thuglicans take responsibility or say one damn word when Ted Nugent threatened Pres. Obama and Hillary Clinton over and over---and I might add he was just invited to the White House, courtesy of treasonous tRmputin.

(6,974 posts)Pres. Obama was an African-American, and I guess it was okay for thuglicans and right-leaning racists to insult him.
But oh no, Lord have mercy Jesus, Dems must not insult the WHITE, racist, paranoid, treasonous, snowflake who blames EVERYBODY but himself for his shit. tRumputin wants to destroy/defund/kill off Obamacare which will result in killing many who won't have any health care just so he can get billions in tax cuts for the rich like himself and his family, yet folks are upset over what GRIFFIN did, yet Ted Nugent was JUST invited to the White House?
Skittles
(153,142 posts)LenaBaby61
(6,974 posts)You certainly have every right to your opinion, but I'm tired of FAKE thuglican outrage, and I call them on their BS when they go out acting all offended over what Griffin did. Where was that same outrage when there were pictures a plenty and films, and people showing up at events with Pres. Obama being hanged to DEATH by his neck in effigy? Nugent threatened him/Hillary several times--crickets. It's bad enough that thuglicans are a treasonous bunch--most not caring about the russia situation, or the treasonous actions of tRumputin and his grifting, rotten family.
Secondly, I kinda think that most of those out of the 24 million (Who are Dems with kids, who are elderly/poor/sick with a longterm illness) that the GOP and specifically tRumputin heartlessly keeps threatening to throw off their health care (De-funding it) if he has the chance--won't be too happy if Democrats KEEP holding themselves to such high and lofty standards while thuglicans in essence play with their lives. On a personal note, I have a friend (59) who recently found out that she has breast cancer again (Other breast this time), and I'm pretty sure she's not thinking about Kathy Griffin--just about whether tRumpitin's & the GOP'S JUSTGODDIE bill passes, or if her cancer treatment coverage is capped if she's battling cancer for an extended period of time--hell, if she can afford health care period because of her pre-exiting condition (cancer).
Those folks in the above video look mighty happy. Not thinking about Dems high standards for themselves or about who they could possibly be MURDERING with their JUSTGODIE health care bill. They sleep well knowing what's IN--and NOT in that tRumputin health care bill.

(153,142 posts)I can't see us ever doing it
Democrats simply have to get better at CALLING OUT REPUKE BULLSHIT
LenaBaby61
(6,974 posts)Well, they don't ..... Dems knuckle under too quickly, meanwhile giving thuglicans big passes. They sure can't shame thuglicans into not killing 24 million people.
I guess LBJ acting like scum at times means that we as Dems long ago should have rejected the great societal programs and his passing of Civil Rights legislation begun by JFK.
Like I say, we all have the right to our own opinions, and Dems are ceding too much to thuglicans, which is one of the reasons WHY we're in the mess we're in currently.

or any one of the MANY other examples of what was put out there showing President Obama being hung during their rallies after Obama's election, I'll give them some ground for solidarity in outrage on these kinds of expressions.
Also, let's keep this in context. Kathy's post was an expression just 2 days after two REAL people had their throats slashed as a result of Trump's rhetoric. I think I'll pick the REAL murders to express my own outrage on.
Personally, I do find it tasteless, but I'll be damned if I'm going to be roped into their hypocritical games. These, and the many other examples of what THEY did needs to be posted at every fucking place where they are "outraged, and disgusted".

(53,987 posts)But I'm not going to make Republican unpatriotic behavior the standard by which I measure my own ethics.
My views are not altered by Republicans' moral relativism. Inciting violence against an elected official is morally wrong, even if it's couched in a joke.
There aren't a lot of verbal taboos in a society with free speech. Kidding around about murdering our leaders needs to be one of those tattoos. Yes, even when they're assholes

(8,445 posts)I've never been a fan of Kathy Griffin because I don't think she's funny and her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. But the very people who are "appalled" by this latest stunt are the same ones who showed no respect to the Obamas for 8+ years.
I just read an article that said Barron saw it and freaked out. He's 11. IF he saw it, he's old enough to know it was fake. If he's not mature enough, then maybe his Internet time and television time needs to be more closely monitored. He's the son of a horrible man who continues to do inflict great harm on all of us. He may as well get used to people saying awful things about his father. It's not going to stop. 45 brought this on to his whole family. He's the one to blame.

(13,776 posts)The key difference is that I heard a hell of a lot of hand-wringing and outrage about Kathy Griffin's (stupid) stunt in the MSM and absolutely no protest whatsoever about the Tea Party's (deadly serious) ones. I never heard one damn thing about how hanging him in effigy was horrible and OMG and so upsetting to his daughters. Not one damn thing.

(53,987 posts)by civilized people, or people committed to a peaceful form of democratic government. It was wrong when it was done about Bush, when it was done about Clinton, when it was done about Obama.
I'm glad she apologized so quickly about it, but it's really quite inexcusable. I think CNN needs to dump her from its New Year's Eve coverage. Republicans may not respect the institution of the White House, at least not when Democrats hold the office. But I support the ideals of a republican form of government regardless of who holds the office.
For Republicans who don't understand the concept, it's called putting a country ahead of party.

(53,987 posts)I remember the ridiculous display in 2016 of the establishment Republican candidates trying to beat Trump at his own game.
I have no problem with fighting hard or fighting creatively against Trump and is Neo fascist movement. in fact, I think we need to.
What we don't need to do is violate our own morality in the process. If it was wrong for Ted Nugent to incite violence against Obama, why would you think it's cool for someone on our side to do the same against Trump?
I don't think we want to validate Ted Nugent's approach to political discourse. Maybe you feel differently
