I was informed the latter can be construed as bigotry because you are assigning to someone an ethnic name he or she or his family shook off. I reluctantly agree but I loved using it.

I agree with you, it wasn't right for him to go after Jon Stewart for changing his name, nor is it right to go after Orange Hitler for his family's original name.
I suspect John Oliver did this because Trump went after his old boss and he took it personally.
