Who Stands To Benefit Financially From Pulling Out Of The Paris Accord?.....

I got to think that there is a money reason for pulling out of this agreement. What's the money motivation behind this?

7. Yeah...

At minimum. I think they hold coal interests.

Politically, though, I don't think it's a net support gain for Trump.

3. Not sure Trump can think this deviously, but...

the biggest winners would be the Russians, I think. They stand to gain the most by maintaining the world's dependence on fossil fuels, and by the opening up of the arctic to drilling. Most of the oil producers in the lower latitudes can see the end of their oil reserves by now, and only the high priced, low yield fields like the tar sands are opening up. Oil as fuel is losing ground to renewables and natural gas. The green movement is starting to have a real effect on oil profits.

So, I'd guess Putin is pulling Trump's strings on this one to prop up the Russian economy. They don't have much else.

6. What about Russia?

Putin is the alpha and the omega of this administration. All roads lead to Putin, and all roads lead from Putin.

11. Russia should just annex the US.

Trump just declares himself "Deputy Prime Minister" to Putin and starts taking orders. The republican Congress won't object. So there goes any opposition,

10. Let's see, it's hard to connect the dots

Paris Accord, >reduced greenhouse gases >biggest loser >carbon-based power generation.

What economy is most dependent on their carbon-based power generation production >

that's a real hard one.

Let me think.

The me think.

Let me think

Russia and Saudi Arabia? Who would in their right mind would be beholden to them?

I give up, who is it?

12. Russia, the Koch Brothers, Saudi Arabia, Exxon - for four

All have huge fossil fuel assets. The Koch brothers are largely in coal, which is rapidly losing its position as the cheapest source of fuel - with even the Gary Cohn saying that coal is on the way out.

Maybe we should tell Donald that pulling out helps IRAN, which also has lots of oil.

15. US Taxpayers no longer have to pay $10s of billions to the Green Climate Fund

This was anticipated to collect $100 billion annually by 2020 for disbursements to less-developed countries.

The US would be on the hook for the biggest chunk of this.
