General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI understand why CNN has taken the action to not have Griffin on for NYE.
I don't think people should be rewarded for such a thing nor should business entities feel they are forced to hold someone who has done such a thing. Seems like a pretty easy move for them to make.
That said, the policy should be even. Trump should not be shown on the network considering how much CNN cares about such things.
Trump spent close to a decade questioning the birth certificate of Obama. Stoking the fears and hatred of racists all across this country. Obama can't be an American citizen because he is black. He must have been born in Africa. This is after Obama even made his BC public.
1) Griffin makes a sick gesture toward a rich white male. I would even argue that she was incited into doing such a thing considering Trumps words and actions toward women.
2) Trump stokes racist hatred and fears across the country. Year after year he questioned the citizenship of the first black President, knowing that Obama was/is a citizen. He riled up millions with his racist language and ignorance.
One is the sitting President. The other is a comedian. There is no comparison.
One wants to strip away healthcare from millions.
One wants to continue, even deepen, the systemic racism in our government.
One wants to roll back and ignore any climate based initiatives.
One wants to turn our allies to enemies.
One hates anything that doesn't look like himself.
The list goes on.
CNN shouldn't carry any situation where Trump is on camera.
Then again, their goal is profits, not consistency.

(5,164 posts)What he has done- inciting violence against HRC etc, and many others, his lies about and attacks on Obama, and what he is doing to the people and to this country and the world is obscene and a crime. The list goes on and on- there's too much to list.
I just him removed from office as soon as possible. Pence, too.
They all have to go including Ryan or it will be even worse prolly.

(3,089 posts)Kathy Griffin does not and cannot make policies that will strip millions of health care and drive women into back alley abortions. Trump can and intends to do so. As sick or offensive as anyone considers that photo, the reality of Trump is much worse.
And I agree. Trump's entire attitude toward women has been condescending at best and usually horrendous. No wonder there is a rage toward him from females. I feel it myself.

(1,128 posts)that NYE is an out door program in the middle of Times Square. If you were CNN, would you want to be responsible for some crazy loon hurting a lot of people while trying to go after Griffin?

(985 posts)Ted Nugent talked about 2nd amendment solutions to Obama, but he didn't have any mainstream endorsements to lose (because he sucks). I wonder if Republicans would have still campaigned with him if he'd posed with Obama's severed head.
As much as I feel the rage, the reaction to Kathy Griffin is appropriate. I think she hurts the cause by allowing Trump to claim that criticism of him is unreasonable.

(28 posts)I can't condemn Kathy Griffin. I really can't.
He's inciting actual people to actual violence. But he can't look at a stupid picture without getting freaked out.
And I'm with you one hundred percent about what the response to him should be: a good old-fashioned shunning. Totally ignore the jerk. Cover the policy without naming any names.
CNN and the mainstream media are complicit.

"I actually think she did a stupid thing"
I have seen very few argue otherwise.
