It was in response to a tweet that a reporter sent asking if Trump would hold one of his grandchildren on his lap while signing something leaving the treaty.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday urged President Trump to think about the next generation as he weighs his final decision on whether to keep the U.S. in the Paris climate accord.
Good question. But more importantly: billions of grandkids will have to live with this decision, however it lands. Think of them, please, Kerry wrote on Twitter in response to a user who had asked if Trumps granddaughter would be on his lap if he signs an executive order pulling out of the agreement.

Kerry held Alexandra's then 2 year old when he came up to sign for the US at the UN in 2015.

As mentioned it was in response to a tweet referencing his bringing his pretty little granddaughter. (Maybe he should have tagged Ivanka and Jared)
This is an issue that more than about anything else is about the future. It is that generation, not Trump's generation that will have to live with what is done.
