Would a 20 dollar minimum wage at the federal and state level be a winning campaign proposal? (Original Post) nkpolitics1212 Jun 2017 OP

The age limit on Medicare should be reduced in steps, until everyone is covered.

Medicaid is a state program, so you'd have to convince 50 different states to raise the income limit. And again, it should be done in increments.

I think you're also overlooking how many people really do think that Medicare, Medicaid, and a decent living wage are the work of the Devil.

Personally, I'd like to see a move towards a maximum wage. Say, a million dollars a year, including ALL benefits. If you can't live on that amount, then get some good financial counseling.

For a large chain. I work hard to get all of my employees the most money I can, I work hard to get them the largest raises I can. I also expect them to work hard and they do, we are a family. But a $20 min wage would close my store and many others if not all of the chain. So no.

Unfortunately we will be lucky if we can restore policies and funding to where they were pre-collusion. Reversing the harm to the environment and privatization of public infrastructure and resources will be even more challenging.

But in some instances it would close a lot of businesses. I think a better way would be to tax corporate profits to the point that corporations would increase their wages enough to evade the taxes. Exactly how that would happen would have to entail way more knowledgeable people than me.

A $20 dollar minimum wage would make it economically feasible to automate many jobs out of existence.

A sudden increase in the number of Medicare recipients probably wouldn't be wise. I think loosening the eligibility restrictions on Medicare would be a good thing as long as people aren't added to the program faster than it's ability to ramp up its ability to pay claims though.

I think hospitals would revolt if you expanded Medicaid too much. Reimbursements from that program for any given procedure are significantly smaller than they are from Medicare and private insurance in most areas of the country.

They'd be forced to not vote or go 3rd party.

ETA: Most of those business owners already do the right thing by paying way more than the minimum wage. I think it's best to do the gradual change that Hillary proposed, because the change affects all workers, not just min. wage.

Truck driving, taxi and pretty much all driving jobs will be history soon. Retail jobs are going along with the brick and mortar stores.

Fast food joint will be automated as well. Where the hell are people going to find work in this country?

Automation and the internet are going to devastate jobs in this country. Already have and it will speedily increase every year.
