For using the word, "malaise"?
Just one word and they condemned him for his inexperience. Where are those people now?

(1,537 posts)I may have been too young to pick up all the details, and maybe Carter wasn't as good of a president as I remember. But the biggest blow to Carter's presidency was probably the gas crisis, which IMO was probably Big Oil deciding that they didn't want a conservationist in the White House. Carter was working towards renewable energy in the 70's! And Reagan unraveled everything. Can you imagine how much further along we could be now, if Carter's policies and goals had been met?

(1,714 posts)What I remember is his response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. He decided we should boycott the 1980 Olympics, which just seemed passive-aggressive, and led to the Soviets boycotting the 1984 Olympics. He also reinstated draft registration. Not good.
