1. Do NOT be ashamed, or the freakin weirdos win.

YOU KNOW right from wrong,
Compassion from hatred,
Kindness from ugliness,
PEACE from violence,
Generosity from greed,
Healing from pain,

YOU have a Heart, Mind, SPIRIT.
GIVE YourSelf where it makes a positive difference.
Do NOT spend it on freakin weirdos.
Take goood Care of YourSelf.
Bless YOU 💖

2. It is for the Republicans, any Republican, to be ashamed.

But of course they're not.

3. I am NOT NOW and

NEVER have been ashamed to BE an AMERICAN because I aspire to the highest ideals in our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights and the Rule of Law. They are what distinguish us from savages.

That said, I have been VERY ashamed of some US Presidents and of actions they have taken - purportedly on behalf of our nation. Of these, Trump is by far the worst of the worst.

I also believe that our Constitution regards some tweaking w/r/t, among others, voting day, clarification of the Second Amendment and clarification of civil rights and responsibilities, including those of women. But for this to happen in any meaningful way, we MUST elect Dem Reps, Senators, Governors and state legislatures!

We also need seriously to rethink our balance-of-power structures and perhaps move more towards a parliamentary system where multiple political parties have a voice. What we have now has been dysfunctional for years. President Obama literally performed miracles to make as much progress as he did. If Trump has shown us anything, it is how easily the system can be made powerless.

5. I am embarrassed by the fake president and those who chose him but...

I am very proud to be an American and am looking forward to the day I won't be embarrassed any longer. I went to France in 2005 because I couldn't take the Bush BS and had to leave for my own patriotic sanity. Everyone I met in France was so kind and cool. I was embarrassed back then too. Remember Freedom Fries? The French people ALL said, "Don't take it so hard. These people come and go and it won't always be like this." Of course their country is a lot older (and wiser in many ways). I reflect on that often these days.
