Brian Williams on @MSNBC says a source tells him and Nicolle D Wallace they're not sure Trump knew there were Americans stationed in Qatar.

(11,779 posts)Why would he have any reason whatsoever to be interested in that fact. And don't pull that old joke about, "Well, he is president!" This is Donald Trump we're talking about!

(8,974 posts)it would require listening to someone advise him or reading. He doesn't do either.
He can't even find a DC law firm to represent him! He's going down. I hope I have the day off to watch every gory minute of it too

(58,785 posts)reports what amounts to a pathologic inability to focus attention on anything that's not specifically about him and that when briefed he simply doesn't remember.
Even in the middle of the briefing, like touring a Navy ship inspecting the changeover from steam to electromagnetic catapults -- that briefing was so misunderstood that he told them on the spot that he was scrapping the multi-billion-dollar new technology because obsolete steam was better.
Another fun side to this is that, reportedly, his handlers have learned that advising him what NOT to say is problematic because that can result in it being the first thing out of his mouth when that topic comes up.
Poor dears.
PRESIDENT RUMP'S OWN CONFUSED VERSION: "I said, You dont use steam anymore for catapult? No sir. I said, Ah, how is it working? Sir, not good. Not good. Doesnt have the power. You know the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steams going all over the place, theres planes thrown in the air.
It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And its very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I saidand now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said, What system are you going to be Sir, were staying with digital. I said, No youre not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and its no good.

(20,200 posts)see it on FOX Snooze in order to be aware. They probably didn't cover that on 'Fox and Friends' this morning. Either that or he was too busy stuffing his face with Little Debbie Swiss Rolls (he really thinks they come from Switzerland) to pay attention.

(11,767 posts)She said she was shocked about something Trump said or did (which I unfortunately do not remember). It had something to do with basic knowledge anyone should have let alone the President.
I told her, "Really? Shocked is not a word that I use with Trump at this point. Disgusted, Stupid, Upset, etc... those are words I use, but shocked implies that there is an expectation about limits of behavior and Trump has no limits. He is not just ignorant, he is proudly ignorant. He is not just mean, he prides himself on being mean."
I am not stunned or surprised about information that Trump might not have known we have a large base in Qatar. I would actually be surprised if he knew that. I am more surprised when things that are normative happen with this administration and Trump. He has no limits to his stupidity and vileness.

(29,534 posts)Honestly, if the Democrats ran someone that unqualified, I'd probably just skip voting for whatever office that was. I don't see how anyone could walk into a voting booth and purposely punch a card, or fill in a circle, next to Donald Trump's name.

(29,534 posts)but I still kind of like him. I don't always get him, but I think he's fairly smart, and he's got a broad base of knowledge.
I like Brian, too.
I like his style. He's a polite and considerate host. He lets his guests speak and finish their thoughts. He is intelligent, and has decades of experiences and knowledge. Plus, he has a nice sense of humor.
He's not perfect, but neither am I. I don't always agree or like what he says, but who wants that all the time. Not me.

The university has a code of conduct that considers cultural mores and the fact that most of Qatar follow Salafism, not that trump would realize there were different sects among these nations which drive their disagreements.
