(82,849 posts)Will the presstitutes put up with this, too? They've been so supine for the last 15 years when it comes to challenging things like the USA PATRIOT Act, the rationale for invading and occupying Iraq, the financial meltdown of 2008, the serial fiscal cliff crises forced by Congress during the Obama administration, and the ongoing disaster that is the Trump administration. Are they going to sit still for these restrictions on access to elected officials, as well?

(11,767 posts)Freedom of the Press is a pretty big deal, as is freedom of speech. The founders, who these clowns seem to revere (sarcasm), thought it was important enough to make it the first in the list of amendments to the Constitution in order to get the thing ratified.
As the Republicans often say when trying to increase the government's ability to spy on us, "If you have nothing to hide, then you shouldn't worry about it" Right?

(141,926 posts)'Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), chair of the Senate Rules Committee, on Tuesday said the panel has not imposed new restrictions on reporters conducting on-camera interviews with senators, despite reports that new barriers were put in place.
The Rules Committee has made no changes to the existing rules governing press coverage on the Senate side of the Capitol complex, Shelby said in a statement.
He said the committee has been working with the various galleries to ensure compliance with existing rules in an effort to help provide a safe environment but has not imposed new guidelines.
Reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday said they were informed of significant new restrictions for on-camera interviews conducted with senators.
