(4,789 posts)If the plural is "attorneys general," it's clear that "general" is meant as an adjective. Somebody decided that calling them generals sounded better, I suppose.
To those who've posted that we shouldn't be focusing on the bigger matters at hand, well, some of us enjoy discussing language, and we're also able to walk and chew gum at the same time, i.e., focus on both the large and the small matters.
