someone in a crowd asked about party affiliation, and someone in a crowd shot.

so the congresscritter conveniently decided to assume the questioner was the shooter.

after all, who but a shooter would possibly care about party affiliation of congresscritters....

the congresscritter said he "thinks" it was the shooter.

it's amazing that people even bother to go to journalism school so they can be outright propagandists.

eh, what do i know, maybe they don't even take any journalism classes.
if they even learned anything about proofreading, even that certainly doesn't show.

oh goodness me, whatever could possibly have gone oh so wrong for someone to have decided to get that completely innocent and honest mistake into the media.

i'm sure the guy who made that false statement will be self-flagellating 100 times tonight and vow never to make any such mistake again.

Which doesn't mean it wasn't a targeted shooting of Republicans, but that was just a mistaken assumption. Which happens often in these types of events.

There's a host of various possibilities out there. In time we'll have a better idea of what was the motive here.

Right now the media is making bricks without straw. It's running with every rumor, bystander's opinion and post hoc it can find. Until there's confirmation, some skepticism might be in order.

"Earlier reports that the gunman asked the partisan identification of the people practicing before opening fire appears to have been in error, a good faith confusion of another person with the shooter. I’m not sure we can definitively rule that report out. But it now appears that report is at best unconfirmed and likely erroneous."

Is not policies but lack of intelligence.

They were chosen because they actually believe their parties propaganda that their ideas work not just that they will help their big donors.

Since they lack such basic analytical skills, if told to go violent or go fascist, they will because they can't imagine what would happen if they fail.

Some of the GOP backers during the Bush era seemed to be pushing for fascism, but enough Republicans were hesitant to pull the trigger, not out of idealism or patriotism necessarily but more likely self-preservation, that they couldn't get it done.

When you have angry, dumb as dirt pols running Congress and the White House, watch out.
