No, I mean like in Japan or the UK or Canada or France or any other advanced, developed country

Since the US pretty clearly isn't a developing country with severe breakdowns of law and order in rural areas and criminal gangs acting as de facto warlords (unlike, say, Mexico or Jamaica). If the best you can do is "we're not as bad as places with significantly greater inequality and endemic organised crime" then you aren't making a very good argument at all.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
