Things aren't going to change much until the GOP base feels actual pain...

...as in health care benefits lost, job loses, and deep cuts into their SS benefits/disability. That's a direct pain they will feel in their wallets and can directly tie to their GOP leadership. That is the only way they will change IMHO. All the rest about trying to convince them about equality/social good and what not is a waste of time.

They want the old ways, trapped in their fears....that's why they are called Conservatives.

But I don't see the GOP base changing just out of goodwill for their neighbors.

despite others being hurt. The GOP runs on the "only if I get something" rule even if they are to blind to see they will get nothing until the deed is done.

12. Others being hurt - that's what they get out of it - that's their goal

There's nothing left but reptilian cortex, tribal bullshit at the heart of the GOP, and that's the tub the party's "leaders" are thumping.

And it still works.

4. That won't change things either. They will simply blame Obama and Democrats

They were giving Reagan credit for the economy in 1996 for God's sake.

Things won't change until we break the alternative fact bubble and go back to Fairness Doctrine days. You simply can't reach a cult that has been totally carved away from society and isolated in an alternate information stream.

Considering how they've been brain washed guess who they are going to blame? Guess who they'll be coming for?
