As part of the expansion, conservative radio talk show host and MSNBC contributor Hugh Hewitt is getting a half hour show, airing Saturdays at 8 a.m. ET. In addition, Thomas Roberts will anchor two hours in the evening both weekend nights.
Hewitts first show, which will air live, is this Saturday morning. Expanding news programming has long been the goal of NBC News chairman Andy Lack, who created MSNBC 21 years ago. But with intensive coverage of the Trump White House, which has led to ratings gains across MSNBC, it only makes sense to add live hours where it can. For the last several weeks, MSNBC has re-aired episodes of Rachel Maddow and Lawrence ODonnell in the early evenings. Extended programming also includes anchors Alex Witt and Richard Lui.

(7,117 posts)It's to get liberals up and off the couch on Saturday mornings so they can do some productive Resistance work.
Apart from that, it's the most idiotic move in TV programming ever.

(7,117 posts)...that's it's his Liberal hosts with the high ratings, not his Teabagger friends.

Like hiring Megyn Kelly and Greta Van Whatever, this is another craven reach for ratings by hiring fascist hacks. If no one watches, they're programming will die. I'd rather know that there are endless prison programs on MSNBC than Koch and Mercer lackies.

(10,695 posts)but lost his show, not sure why. Alex Witt seemed to lean right for a while there, seemed to be a fan of Dubya. But I haven't seen her in years.
