when i was young i always tried to look at the individual, to not make vast, sweeping judgements on groups of people, and to give people the benefit of the doubt--usually based on the naive assumption that people were basically good at heart.


i don't do that anymore. (haven't done it in years--truth be told)

He's been gone 20 years but I can still hear him in my mind saying that. He hated republicans and was cheering when Nixon resigned. I was considering voting for Reagan in 1980 my first vote after seeing him on tv and he told me he'd disown me if I ever voted for Reagan or any rethug. His own father voted for Eisenhower and my Dad didn't talk with his father for a couple of weeks. He felt they only cared about businesses and were racists. I grew up hearing him expressing his disgust for rethugs. I'm glad he's not alive today to see how even lower they have gone. They really are hideous disgusting people evidenced by the scrotus who was installed by our enemy Russia to destabilize the US.

8. Our own cynicism is not helping

I've been posting on threads today and sent a letter to the DNC about seeking out true old school moderates and find a way to start elevating their voices. We need to get them to take over the Republican party as it is today and now may be the right time to do this.

I think the republican party supporters are so cynical that they have forgotten how to imagine better things for themselves. I'm talking about those republican voters that are not the beneficiary's of the current policies to enrich at any cost crowd.
If they can be found, the old school moderates, the really good ones, then we should do what we can to help get their voices out there so that these people have a choice. It's a long hard slog to rewire the brains of the cynical but it's worth a shot IMO.

Maybe the DNC or some other Org could set up a small group to focus on this.

to the electorate. The only thing that the GOP cares about is screwing the poor and middle-class to make them and their buddies richer and to Hell with the Constitution. That's why they like Trump. He's giving a master class in how to use his office to make himself richer.
