The ruling was in response to her lawyers arguments that Trump should be allowed to skip the deposition in part because of her extraordinary circumstances as a high-ranking government employee.
In a statement filed with the court June 16, Trump said she had no involvement in the conception, design, production or sale of the Hettie shoe, the sandal at the center of the suit by Florence shoemaker Aquazzura. She said her only involvement was a final sign-off of each seasons line after it was first reviewed and approved by the companys design team.
the judge did not buy her excuse.
At the link there are pics of the original shoe and of her rip-off. Seems pretty obvious.

The shoe on the left is clearly not a knockoff of the one one right!

(18,040 posts)at least in part due to high heels.
I was presenting to a hostile, all male board of trustees at a meeting. As I was being introduced, I realized that I had left my notes on a table across the room. I knew that I needed them and didn't want to look like I messed up, so I got up and began a canned introduction while I walked across the room purposefully, in long strides, in four inch heels.
After the meeting, the only other woman who had been present (as a scribe, of course) told me that my walk was pure power. "You should have seen their faces. They looked scared to death."
I'm older now. Clogs and flip flops are my shoes of choice.

It would not matter if she was ripping off a flat sandal or a work boot or a clog instead. It's still a ripoff.

(2,559 posts)Here's the original, by Aquazura, "Wild Thing", priced at $785
Here's Trump's first knock-off, named "Hettie":
However in Trump's defense, sort of, is that the article linked shows about 22 other knockoffs of the Aquazura Wild Thing shoes for a small fraction of the original price, as well.
Still, Trump must have realized there would be a copyright or patent problem because she also released another version, named "Hethal" (rhymes with Lethal?) that doesn't have tassels on the laces, and costs only $39:

.....In demanding that Trump be deposed, Aquazzuras attorneys quoted Trump as recently saying, Theres not a shoe Im not intimately involved with designing. IT Collection shoemaker Marc Fisher Holdings is also named in the suit.
Other shoes sold by Trumps IT Collection and named in the suit also appear strikingly similar to those created by Aquazzura. The Italian company claims Trump can sell them at a fraction of the cost because she has dodged the costs of their original designs. The Hettie shoe sells for $130 while the Wild Thing has a pricetag of $785.
