Anyone Else Sick Of The Constant Stream Of GOP Lies About Obamacare And Everything Else?

I'm serious. Just saw Republican congressman X say Obamacare is collapsing, and they want to give tax credits to folks who will be losing their Medicaid. Tax credits to help my 82 year old mother in law will go a long way to do what?

All they do is lie.

Maybe some ELECTED Democrats should start pointing out they (Republicans) are pathological liars, and you can't trust a word they say.

To hell with toning down. They are lying to pass their Deathcare bill. Just say it Dems.

I am sick of the lies.

It helped a lot of people, but it hurt a lot of others. If we want to be realistic about it, we need to acknowledge that.

My dh is planning to retire so we talked to an insurance agent about individual health insurance. We have the choice of exactly two plans. I see specialists in another state, and one plan didn't cover either of the docs, and the other covered only one. We were looking at silver plans which cost $1700.00 per month, with $13,500 family deductible. We would not qualify for a subsidy. This is ridiculous. There has to be a way to give people more choice to get the coverage they want and need at a lower price.

As long as it's about companies competing for money, it will never really be about your health or mine.

I'm convinced that many Republican voters KNOW they are lies. I don't mean Faux and RW radio hosts - they are performers and are paid to gather an audience for the advertisers, and they do that by saying what the audience want to hear. I mean the ordinary people who vote Republican.

I listened to my parents and a few of their friends sit around the table and talk shit about Obama, Obamacare, and Democrats in general one day. I was elsewhere in the room, kind of out of sight and I guess they forgot I was there. It occurred to me, listening to them, that ALL of them knew that they were repeating lies. Yet they all sat around the table and nodded their heads, pretending to believe it.

My father constantly forwards bullshit emails to me (and everyone else he knows) and I KNOW he doesn't believe what they say. So why does he pass them on? I don't know what to make of this phenomenon, or what to do about it.

I have better things to do with my time. Once in a while I'll debunk a particularly ridiculous claim, and tell him I'm embarrassed for him that he sends such idiotic crap out to people. It doesn't do any good.

With the debunking information. I think he was embarrassed when I exposed the lies he was forwarding to all his friends and family. I even got some "Thank you" messages from several on his email list.

Too much political thinking today is founded in "faith base" logic. And I don't really mean religion, although that often crops up. But you'll constantly here "well, I just don't BELIEVE that...." They have economic ideas and ideals that are based upon what they WANT to be true, rather than an expert analysis of what "can" be true, or is true. It's been shown over and over that tax cuts don't increase tax revenues. But the BELIEF continues. Rising tides DON'T raise all boats, but they continue to BELIEVE that it does. Belief should exist in the absence of knowledge, not at the expense of it. "Let Free Markets decide" but it was "free" markets that brought about the housing market bubble and subsequent collapse.

It's like the mere fact that we exist sets them off. They won't let us get any meaningful legislation passed. They won't let any civil rights progress, and they're taking us backwards at an alarming rate. They are psychopaths.

Charlie Pierce has no problems in calling out these pathological sociopaths.

To pretend that they have any interest in helping the average American is laughable--they are only interested in enabling their billionaire funders to get even more money.
