Auschwitz Memorial condemns GOP rep who filmed video in gas chambers

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) is facing criticism from officials at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum Tuesday, after he filmed a video inside a former gas chamber in the Nazi concentration camp.

According to a report by The Associated Press, officials from the memorial said the video was disrespectful and that the sign in the building asks visitors to "maintain silence."

Local Louisiana news outlets reported Higgins's video Saturday. In it, the lawmaker discusses how the gas chambers worked, using the site as an example of why the U.S. military "must be invincible."

An invincible military in Europe between 1940-1943 is what let to the establishment of gas chambers in the first place.

To film a gas chamber as a pro-military message is not only cynical and disrespectful; it' stupid!,

The US did next to NOTHING in helping Jews and others escape the concentration camps, despite having military might. What a callous, ahistorical bunch of propaganda!

10. As VP Dick Cheney wore a jacket with the word STAFF on the front while at Aushwitz

No fooling. You can google it.

It was a huge International Remembrance and Old Dick was the US representative. It was a solemn, serious, and important International event remembering the terrible happenings that occured there by the Nazis. And VP Dick Cheney wears a jacket into Aushwitz with the word STAFF written in large letters. He sits there on stage for an hour or more wearing a STAFF jacket at a Death Camp.

Think about that for a minute.
