Stephen Colbert Appreciation Thread

He has been the most consistently anti-Trump person on television, more so than any Democratic official, or comedian, or commentator. He pulls no punches, doesn't try to be "even-handed" (translation: false equivalency), and simply kicks the fucking shit out of the Orange Despot & his ignorant friends and family five nights a week!

PS: The first Rec is my own.

My wife happened to mention last night she spotted him in a commercial currently running. On SNL he played a convincing, weasely character. Unfortunately in movies and TV, the weasely guy seldom gets the girl and he faded away.

I can't stay awake long enough to watch Stephen's show (hey, I'm old), but I record it and watch it first thing the next morning--an excellent way to start the day. Stephen is golden, a bright light in the darkness that surrounds us. Long may he wave!!

Peace and blessings.

I catch his monologue every night, and if he's having some good guests on, I stick around. If they are people I don't care about, I turn off the tube and roll over. Wish I had my old VHS machine hooked up. I'd tape him every night and turn off the lights a bit sooner....but he's worth every minute of it.

Someone who will tell it like it is truthfully, humorously, and sometimes gently without fear of consequences. His truthful schtick of being a Catholic boy just fits so artfully with the character he weaves between devastating truth-to-power and comedy.

He's something special.

His fawning over Trump & Alleged Hair was only the latest reason I hate him! He is the Gorsuch of late night, occupying a seat that rightfully belongs to Conan! (I wish there was a real Hell, as I could take solace that Leno's ticket there has already been bought and paid for.)

speech with GWB himself merely feet away from Stephen, back in the good old days of us Americans "better watch what we say" Support our troops, baby fascism.

Really, Stephen's raw courage is an inspiration for those of us that cling to the hope that we may someday return to the best ideals and aspirations of our Founding Fathers. As opposed to right now, where the PTB's want to replace our FF's with a former KGB agent.

He said it was great.

I only got to watch the monologue, and my son's appearance on the broadcast lasted about 1 second, he was in the balcony.

Colbert is a kind of genius; and I love how he brought his politics to the late show with him.
