I hate that filthy fucking disease with every fiber of my being. I have lost too many family members and friends to it over the years.
If we would spend just half as much on medical research to cure cancer, Alzheimers, heart disease, and other killer diseases instead of billions and trillions on the military and military adventures we would be more in line with the civilized countries of this earth.
I served for 8 years in the USAF during the Vietnam conflict, so I just cannot suffer these fools who are so gung-ho to start yet another war in some godforsaken place just so the criminal captains of industry can make even more dirty money.

(12,448 posts)but I wish him well in his battle with an ugly disease. I've seen brain cancer and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

(42,598 posts)"There's one thing that I think that has epitomized the Kennedy family, and that is service to country. And a country above one's own self-interest. Ted Kennedy, I think, epitomized that service to the country. He had a very heavy burden of incredible tradition to carry on. He shouldered it. He became an institution within an institution. And all of us will not only miss him but perhaps maybe try to carry on his legacy reaching across the aisle and getting things done for the American people. We need this now more than ever before."
McCain was far from perfect, but he was enough old school to respect the institution -- an institution that people like Cruz and others are now tearing to pieces, to the detriment of the country.
