Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) said if they do not accept that subpoenas will be issued almost immediately.
Weve already authorized the orders, Grassley said, explaining that the committees top Democrat, Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), had also signed off on the orders in advance. She and I dont have to take any action its already been taken.
The hearing is scheduled to be held publicly will likely to be a contentious affair after it was found out that the young Trump emailed about meeting with a supposed agent of Russia in order to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton during the campaign.

(145,046 posts)Most times it does not matter in that when you have counsel all you do is take the 5th

(56,828 posts)when it was going on - however, I have "fond" memories of Ollie North taking the 5th during Iran-Contra and North's whiny lawyer complaining that he's not a potted plant...

(145,046 posts)I was in high school but my civics teacher/debate coach was a rabid democrat and we followed the entire proceedings. I was at a major downtown firm during Iran Contra and we had a TV set up in the lunchroom for the North hearings

(56,828 posts)I worked in my father's small store during the summer to earn extra money, so I had no problems bringing in a small TV to work to watch Iran Contra - I remember the mailman would stop in and watch with me for a little while each day. Pretty sure he was a Democrat.

"The mob takes the Fifth Amendment," Trump said at a campaign event in Iowa later that month. "If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?"

(2,166 posts)Donald Trump criticized a particular group of people who invoked that right: former staff members of Hillary Clinton called on to testify about her setting up a private email server.
So there are five of them taking the Fifth Amendment, like you see on the mob, right? he said at another rally in Iowa, though it was three former Clinton staff members who pleaded the Fifth. The mob takes the Fifth Amendment. If youre innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?
