Biden was able to say things that the President shouldn't as President.

(34,915 posts)I turned on NPR this morning, and tuned in midway through some show that had Cross-Eyed Ronnie Christie as a guest. I knew who was talking immediately, without even having heard them announce who was speaking. He was spewing pretty much the same thing, only he was serious. He claimed that white Democrats could come in and say anything they wanted and get away with it, while repugs would get booed for saying the same thing. Which we all know is complete, unmitigated bullshit. He essentially said that the members of the NAACP are brainless puppets of the Democratic Party.

(20,219 posts)on the drive home.
They were talking about the Bain scandal.
I could NOT STAND how they were doing some of that goddammed false equivocating so popular in M$M (and really, how far from M$M is NPR? Really?)
While reporting on rMoney's time discrepancies they maintained an air of uncertainty about it. Was he really involved in decisions or just there in name only? They made much of his time managing the Olympics, and statements from rMoney campaign employees insisting that he was too busy there to have been actively involved in anything else.
They also made sure to cast the Obama campaign in a negative light, making SPECULATIONS that Obama(campaign) MIGHT be jumping to UNFOUNDED conclusions, IF this FUZZY ISSUE MIGHT prove to be OVERBLOWN.
Am I losing my mind?????????

(5,436 posts)I heard the same thing. "The Takeaway" is the most Faux-Lite of all the NPR shows.
Sometimes it goes so far wingnut that I wonder if the dog didn't change the radio station to OxyRush.

(44,499 posts)Avuncular means, "suggestive of an uncle especially in kindliness or geniality."
That's always how Joe Biden has struck me. He's like that uncle you see at family functions who's always good for a laugh or humorous story. Maybe he'll occassionally get a little off-color, but that makes him all the more likeable. His down-to-earthness and unpretentiousness is endearing. In the end, you are probably glad he's your uncle and not your dad, but that's just because if he were your dad you probably just wouldn't like him as much.

(2,959 posts)Mr. Biden's speech was inclusive and very short on pronouns like "I' & "me". Lots of "ours" and "we". It probably helped him that he was able to call out and point to member from the Delaware group. I know he sure as hell impressed me & I'm from California.
