In the near future, would America be ready for a gay vice president or president?

Next year, Tammy Baldwin-WI is running for re-election to the US Senate and Jared Polis-CO is running for CO Governorship. If both Baldwin and Polis win both the primary and general election. Baldwin-WI can be the VP runningmate to Booker-NJ. Booker/Baldwin wins in 2020 and 2024. In 2028 Presidential candidate Baldwin selects Polis as her VP runningmate.

Look at the backlash that electing a straight, black man gave us.

We're just not there as a country yet for an LGBT president.

They are already throwing tons of money into trashing her and calling her a pervert. If she were to run for national office I would expect a lot more of the same.

So even if America is ready, the right isn't going to let it happen.

They are not ready for anyone who isn't a man, white, Christian, straight, married and a parent.

I said a few years ago that we will really live in an equal and fair country if we elect (and NOT obstruct every single piece of legislation presented to both parties and voted on according to procedures in the constitution) someone who is a female, not straight, an Atheist, not married, childless, and of many colors. For some reason anyone who is any of the above isn't worthy of the respect and honor of holding office and representing the true patriots of the good ol' USA.

You CAN however be a traitor, liar, corrupt, cheater, thief, molester, etc.

They were ready for a black man after the country was pretty much run into the ground, and even then the right bitched and moaned like assholes. With the absolute wreck things will be for the next election we could probably get a gay black woman in there.

They aren't going to care because everything will be fucked all to absolute hell. Everything not nailed down will have been stolen by the kleptocrats those fox "not exactly news" watching fuckers love so good they voted them in twice.. thrice.. whatever. All of this despite the fact the exact same asshole is bludgeoning them to death with a bat funded by the people they "claim" to hate.

Anyway, our gay black woman will fix everything up neat and tidy just in time for the "white economic anxiety" of a certain subgroup of white folks to pop the hell back up again. Just in time to turn the reigns over to another absolute cluster-fuck of a human with a R by its' name.

In the space of twelve years, Wisconsin has gone from light blue to purple to deep, deep red. Wisconsin Democrats now talk (not publicly, yet) about Walker being basically invincible here and may put up only a token challenger if that.

We are a dumb, dumb state.

at least if it is a liberal or Democrat. Gays couldn't serve openly in the military until 2010. No openly gay people were elected (as opposed to reelected) to any Congressional seat until 1999 (Tammy Baldwin) the first gay male and 2nd openly gay Congressman elected was Polis in 2008. Only Baldwin has been openly elected statewide as a gay person.

Gays have a hard time having a path to the nomination. Gays are spread out and the first states either have no gay centers (Iowa, New Hampshire) or have gay centers that are outweighed by the rest of their states (the South). Obama and Clinton both had large constituencies in the party which allowed them to win the nomination in essentially two way races. For Obama it was a combination of anti war voters in Iowa and New Hampshire combined with African Americans in the South. Once the big states of the midwest voted he already had an insurmountable lead. Clinton did the same thing with Hispanics, African Americans, and women. She won the nomination on Super Tuesday. That same electorate doesn't have a natural group for an openly gay politician. Las Vegas, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New Orleans are all well known gay areas but are overwhelmed by the rest of their states (except in Nevada). I don't see a path in a two way race. I also don't see, other than Baldwin and maybe Polis (who is running for governor in Colorado) any gay politician that would be in a place to be seriously considered for President. While Obama wasn't the most experience politician ever by any means, he was a sitting US Senator who had been elected statewide who was in his fourth year of service when elected. Polis, even if he won in Colorado would be in his second year as governor while Baldwin would be in her 8th. I am skeptical that any woman can be elected anytime soon after what happened to Clinton.

in 2026 against Gardner if Gardner wins re-election to a 2nd term 2020 or 2028 he can wait until Bennet retires. 2032 could be the year Polis becomes a Democratic VP nominee. If Polis gets elected VP in 2032 and re-elected in 2036. Polis could be the Democratic Presidential nominee in 2040.
Polis could potentially be the first LGBT VP or President in 2030's and 2040's. By 2030's and 2040's the homophobic redneck population would be at a bare minimum unless bigotry is hereditary.

We are going to elect a gay governor-Jared Polis-a wealthy businessman turned congressman. If Polis has a successful tenure as Governor 2019-2027, he could run for President in 2028 or 2032. Jared Polis can be the first.
