I'm done.

Using gay as an insult is one of them. It has been happening a lot lately, "justified" by Trump is so bad and so offensive that anything is fair game. Sorry using a vulnerable group as an insult is NEVER ok, and I'm going to alert rather than debate - because when I point out how offensive it is, all that happens is that it generates verbal abuse.

I expect better from liberals but I'm often sadly disappointed.

Using gay as a slur is wrong, maybe people didn't used to know that but they certainly do now. There's no excuse for it.

My ex-mother-in-law liked to use ethnic slurs, she figured if it wasn't the n-word it was acceptable. As far as I know when it came to Italians she never used that g-word but was fond of the other along with the w-word.

Is someone is really offending someone else - yes. voting to hide. But complaining about a politician, a Democrat - hey, let's rebut.

This is what I miss from the old system - I could explain my vote. More often than not I would vote to keep the post and comment to rebut. This is what a discussion forum is. And, let's face it: while most of us have very strong opinions that we readily disperse here, I would like to think that we also are open to learn and, if needed, to change our opinion.

and how often. They might need to consider restricting people to one alert a day....or a week.

Most of the alerts are really, really stupid. A few have been technical violations that an adult would have let slide.

It has to be pretty egregious for me to hit "alert." Or I have to be half asleep in the wee hours.

He spends his hours combing my posts looking for anything to alert on. Just like they track how many hides you get, they need to track who is doing multiple alerts and about what. Sometimes the alerter just can't argue well and wants to hide behind alerts. I have looked at some threads that get alerts and think that I see bias - some people seeking to steer the dissent in the party with gaming the jury system.

(Or it could just be my tin-foil is on too tight.)
