Following his rhetoric from over the weekend, President Donald Trump tweeted Monday morning questioning why Obamacare shouldnt hurt insurance companies and why should Congress not be paying what public pays?
The comments follow threats he made on social media over the weekend to end BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress if Republicans couldnt come to an agreement on Obamacare repeal, apparently alluding to cutting cost sharing reduction payments to insurance companies and an employer contribution to lawmakers health insurance.
On Sunday, White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said the President would decide on whether to end these Obamacare subsidies this week.
Trumps tweets closely resemble remarks White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney made about the issue on CNNs State of the Union on Sunday.
I think his attitude is this, and his attitude is pretty simple, Mulvaney said. What hes saying is, look, if Obamacare is hurting people and it is then why shouldnt it hurt insurance companies and more importantly perhaps for this discussion, members of Congress?

(6,357 posts)The underlying principle (O'care failing) is wrong but the action (congress not separate from O'care) is correct. And I think a lot of us have felt that way all along as a means of created a vested self interest among congress that aligns with us.

(15,805 posts)Trump thinks he getting his revenge on Obama, and retaliating against Congress for not killing off the ACA care, but he shows no concern for all the millions of patients and their families who would be affected. Trump is lashing out at everything, wanting to hurt insurance companies, and again, he doesn't care how that will hurt real people who need those services.

(12,344 posts)They can easily afford whatever costs they need to pay. A few are not and healthcare changes will affect them much more than the others. Why should we make Congress more of a millionaires club than it is already?
