In the first hours of the travel ban, Trump administration officials stiff-armed Congress, treated lawyer calls like protests, and shared photos among themselves of protesters.
On the chaotic day the Trump administrations travel ban went into effect, high-level Homeland Security officials directed their staff at airports around the country to stiff-arm members of Congress and treat lawyers with deep suspicion.
Members of Congress say theyre shocked by the orders, uncovered in documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request from The Daily Beast and The James Madison Project, both of which were represented by the law office of Mark S. Zaid.
Im extremely troubled that CBP [Customs and Border Protection] employees would be instructed by superiors to ignore Congressional representatives trying to do their job, especially under such circumstances, said Sen. Cory Booker, a New Jersey Democrat. We suspected as much at the time, but its jarring to see it in black and white. Ill be seeking more information from CBP on this matter.
A CBP official wrote in an email on Jan. 28 that the agencys employees were forbidden from speaking to members of Congress.

I am the daughter of a Marine who served 15 years and was a Korean War survivor. I respect what General Kelly was, but I do not respect what he is.
I am highly suspect of the militarization of our Police and now the militarization of our government. I do not think that a former General should be this high of an adviser to a President.
There are too many generals in the Executive branch.
