The Secret Service can't abandon a protectee, because it is NOT just about them.

Any assassination attempt or completion would affect the entire federal political system, whether it were tRump or one of his family. Trump's ratings would go up in sympathy, especially if he were able to exploit it to appear tough or strong or brave.
