Salon:Who better to save New York from the MTAs Summer of Hell than Type A, workaholic Miranda Hobbes?
Actress Cynthia Nixon better known for her role as Hobbes, a hardworking lawyer, in the HBO series Sex and the City is considering her candidacy for the 2018 primary elections, according to the Wall Street Journal. Nixon is just one of Gov. Andrew Cuomos challengers (and critics) that have been particularly outspoken since New York Citys subway woes have reached new heights and after Cuomo announced his controversial public education policies.
Nixon, a progressive and outspoken political activist, hasnt shied away from criticizing Cuomo in the past She is especially focused on his public education policies. Basically, Gov. Cuomo is shortchanging the children of New York state, Nixon said during an interview on The View. He is not against public schools but he doesnt like to pay for them.
She even argued the governor is a little more like Betsy DeVos than we like to think he is.

(3,613 posts)Members of the LGBT community hit back following Cynthia's comments, as most believe sexual orientation is inherited at birth and is not a choice.
However, today she said: 'I understand that for many people it's not, but for me it's a choice, and you don't get to define my gayness for me.
'A certain section of our community is very concerned that it not be seen as a choice, because if it's a choice, then we could opt out.'
Cynthia continued to say in her statement: 'As I said in the Times and will say again here, I do, however, believe that most members of our community - as well as the majority of heterosexuals - cannot and do not choose the gender of the persons with whom they seek to have intimate relationships because, unlike me, they are only attracted to one sex.'

(16,245 posts)Some fucking celebrity decides they need to be governor, but they should start where everyone else does: city council, school boards, stuff like that. Put in the leg work and make a case for higher office. (I'm looking at you too, Zuckerberg- who is creepier in that he can leverage Facebook to support his candidacy, should it materialize, the way it helped Trump with disinformation).

(71,265 posts)We need someone with governmental experience and problem solving abilities to run for Governor.
Cuomo deserves a real challenge and putting up Nixon will get the same result as Teachout. There are several possible candidates I would like to see run but not Nixon.
