My newborn twin boys would have no health insurance except for the new law forcing Blue Shield to cover them.
And when AMA goes into full effect, it will help tens of millions more.
It is a monumental achievement that had been attempted by many before him, but it was Barack Obama who achieved it.
His place in History is secure and he isn't even halfway done with his Presidency.
Those who can only see what's in it for themselves can bash this law all they want,
but this law is helping Americans as intended.
It is real Progress. The kind that lasts and can be built upon. Not something that will just be rolled back after the next election.

(4,143 posts)And that is good news indeed for you and your kids.
I am hopeful that the problems in the law will be fixed in time and prove to be just the thin edge of the wedge. If that happens, then yes, it will be historically good.
But if those problems aren't solved and the insurance companies and their lobbyists get entrenched so they can't be wedged out, then it will also be historical, but not in the way you and I hope.
in the meantime, forth next few months while I am still alive, I will spend some of my remaining time pointing out it's obvious flaws and advocating that they be fixed.
This, after all, is what the president asked of us.
