I posted this in another thread but thought it was important to get it out there since the right is running with this and some are taking it seriously. As a former Nation subscriber it is sad to see what has happened to it.

(182,803 posts)It includes details about download speed which I had not heard before but it also took VIPS claims at face value.
The really interesting part to me was that it mentions that The Nation and Consortium News are now Russian disinformation distributors:
Unlike the "current and former intelligence officials" anonymously quoted in stories about the Trump-Russia scandal, VIPS members actually have names. But their findings and doubts are only being aired by non-mainstream publications that are easy to accuse of being channels for Russian disinformation. The Nation, Consortium News, ZeroHedge and other outlets have pointed to their findings that at least some of the DNC files were taken by an insider rather than by hackers, Russian or otherwise.
There is now another thread dealing with the changes in The Nation

(7,522 posts)The writer takes apart VIPS and as mentioned in the article you posted they are very anti-Clinton. The daily kos article has a list of their past attacks and it is obvious where they are coming from.
Also if you look at the comments section of the Nation article, a responder called Kevin Kresse answers the charges about bandwidth and servers in eastern Europe not being able to handle the downloads the hacking required and to me, not an expert on such things, takes down that crucial element of their attack.

This patriotism involves liberal hotspots, sickening.
The nation stands for a foreign nation

(7,522 posts)It was all yeah Putin is an authoritarian, but ...
She also uses her husband's term of Russiagate hysteria. I happen to think a thug dictator trying to destroy our democracy is something to get worked up about.

(888 posts)Only covering style of governance, what about murder, corruption, dictatorship, takeover of all levers of power.
And that's not covering all domestic issues, and not mentioning foreign, airline terror/murder, occupation, corruption in Ukraine, strong-armed tactics in Europe over gas, etc.
Russia gate, implying it's a made-up know nothing political scandal,
all that implies that 2 of them are compromised somehow. A known Russian tactic like Trump.
Something that does not meet the eye, very deep, is going on.
Obviously an editorial choice is made and portrayed, there will be consequences.
It's not just opposition like the weekly standard, or Fox news, something else is going on

(7,522 posts)The intelligence agencies are in unison. You may not like their conclusions but tin foil hat articles like the one in the Nation aren't the way to the truth.

Which was disproved and debunked by Director Comey in January:
In his testimony in January on the cyber attacks, then-director of the FBI James Comey said the agency never got access to the machines themselves, but obtained access to the forensics from a review of the system performed by CrowdStrike, a third-party cybersecurity firm.
"We got the forensics from the pros that they hired which -- again, best practice is always to get access to the machines themselves, but this my folks tell me was an appropriate substitute," Comey said.
"The DNC coordinated with the FBI and federal intelligence agencies and provided everything they requested, including copies of DNC servers," Watson said. She added that the copy contains the same information as the physical server.
The FBI joined CrowdStrikes efforts to boot Russia from the server, but then-Homeland Security Department secretary Jeh Johnson complained the DNC rebuffed their offer to help. This was because Russia was already out of their system by then.

(7,522 posts)than just repeat alt-right memes and the question about the server? The article listed several other wild conspiracy that would raise a red flag about the background of the original Nation article. Some reason you won't address them?
Also, I keep meaning to point this out but the U.S. isn't the only nation that has been a victim of Russian attacks. If the DNC hack was an inside job then did the DNC also attack France, Britain? Why would they do that and why would French officials blame the Russians?

(1,473 posts)your question is irrelevant which would be apparent to anyone who read the links provided, but I will share with you a little story.
One Thanksgiving, my absolutely rabid birther cousin tried to tell the entire assemblage at the table that President Obama had never ever gone to Harvard Law and was never ever on Harvard Law Review. His proof? No one could find any articles at Harvard Law Review by President Obama.
Of course, the Harvard alums at the table groaned, rolled their eyes, and drank copious amounts of wine. My cousin insisted he was "right!" He was "right!" There were no signed articles by President Obama. He was "right!"
Of course a poster of your education and experience must know why my cousin's insistence that he was "right" was irrelevant, but revealing.
