It translates as "suck it up, Snowflake."Yes, it's TRUE that all lives matter. Nobody is disputing that. But when somebody tries to counter "black lives matter" with "all lives matter," what you're actually saying is that there IS no special problem with police (or para police) killing a vastly disproportionate number of black people, when obviously THEY DO. It's a problem, and you're simply refusing to acknowledge it because it doesn't effect you. Your skin color doesn't make nervous cops put five bullets thought your chest for reaching for your wallet, or a couple of bullets through your son's head because he was playing with a pellet pistol outside. In fact, you might subconsciously be willing to accept a few innocent black teenagers on the sidewalk, if that's the price that must be paid to keep a few bad ones out of your neighborhood.
It's the same as somebody shouting "help, my house is on fire" and you counter by saying "ALL houses matter." WTF, ALL houses are not on FIRE!
Want to go a quantum leap BEYOND that kind of ignorance, and false equivalence? Try answering "black lives matter" with "why are you making such a fuss over the number of black teens shot by police when the number of black teens shot by OTHER black teens is much higher?" Something Fox News has perfected to a science. I'm sorry, but we're supposed to be holding police to a higher standard than criminals.
And when somebody condemns 'hatred, bigotry, and violence' on MANY SIDES,' it's the same as saying there's no special problem with bigotry against blacks or other visible minorities, because, gosh darnit...there are black and brown racists, too. So, just suck it up the way we do. (Hey, I'm Irish and I can take an Irish joke...)

I understand the trivializing of oppression messaging that shouting "All lives matter" in response to "Black lives matter" involves, but it only has a shred of deflective effectiveness because we know that all lives matter - that is the literal point of Black lives matter. However there is not hatred and bigotry on many sides. There is one side that embraces hatred and bigotry and one side that condemns it. The question always remains, "Which side are you on?"
