Top military officer says US ready to use 'full range' of military capabilities

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Monday said the U.S. military is ready amid heightened tensions with North Korea.

Gen. Joseph Dunford said the U.S. is prepared to use its "full range" of military capabilities if necessary, the Associated Press reported.

Dunford made the comments to his counterparts in South Korea as part of a trip to South Korea, Japan and China.

U.S. military spokesman Capt. Darryn James said Dunford "stressed that North Korea's ballistic missile and nuclear weapons program threaten the entire global community."

“He conveyed America’s readiness to use the full range of military capabilities to defend our allies and the U.S. homeland,” James said.

2. The military is always ready to use the full range of capabilities. That's what they do as a matter

of course. They game out all scenarios all the time to be ready in the eventuality they will have to make quick decisions.

Nothing new going on. We would expect them to do nothing less than be ready to protect the country to the best of their abilities.
