Dinesh D’Souza defends Donald Trump: Not as bad as Hitler!

A very bad weekend for a conservative laughingstock ends with a very bad analogy

JEREMY BINCKES

Dinesh D’Souza — discredited academic and felonious crybaby — has been spending the weekend trying desperately to convince himself and conservatives that white supremacists are actually, secretly, Democrats.

On Monday, D’Souza appeared on Fox News, and drew an unfortunate analogy between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler.

“Trump has never said — not even implied — that he wants to see legal immigration be more white,” D’Souza said on Monday’s “Fox and Friends.” On the other side of the aisle, if you think of Hitler — Hitler wasn’t even talking about immigrants. The Jews in Germany were German citizens. And so, for Hitler, the distinction was inside of Germany, between what he considered to be the superior Nordics and the inferior Jews, and so there’s simply no valid analogy here between Trump and Hitler on this racial point at all.” D’Souza went on to claim that ethnic nationalism was “a left-wing idea,” ignoring that race was a big deal in America long before the current partisan division between Democrats and Republicans even existed.

D’Souza butchering history isn’t exactly new. But hours before neo-Nazis rallied around a Confederate monument and began a violent attack on protesters, the author of a book that claimed liberals were actually responsible for the Nazis tried to whitewash a Confederate general whose family owned slaves.

but lacks the brains, focus, inner circle, and government structure to directly coordinate any kind of organized genocide. Nukes could put him up there in sheer body count.

Also kind of hilarious saying a confederate general opposed secession and slavery considering those were the only two reasons for fighting.

Was he against it before he was for it or for it before he was against it? Because Lee owned slaves and also fought on the side of secession. So this is a nonsensical statement to make.

But this time, there's a regime in place in Poland that likes him, so no need.

10. No... nationalism is way older than the concepts of left/right.

The left/right-divide came in the 19th century.
"Left" and "Right" in their current meaning are derived from a conference held in 1848 during the failed democratic revolution in Germany. Those on the left were for a radical transformation towards democracy, those on the right were for a more "conservation"-minded transformation from absolutist monarchy to constitutional monarchy.

And while the concept of ethnic nationalism was rare, there were cases throughout history. For example, all the eastern-european ethnicities that were left without a unifying leadership after the collapse of the Byzantine Empire during the Middle-Ages.
They had no higher ideal they could point to and be proud of, so they invented the notion that they are inherently different from each other. And each ethnicity regarded itself as special and deserving.

But what do I expect from D'Souza. This is the same guy who thought that Hitler got his ideas from the US-Democrats and completely ignored european history and culture that influenced Hitler, shocking political events that influenced Hitler, medieval european anti-semitism, pseudo-darwinian theories being used for modern anti-semitism...
