Several years ago, MoveOn.org was condemned by Congress

when they ran an ad that criticized General Petraeus for exaggerating US success in Iraq (Petraeus Betray Us, I believe). They had an actual vote and many Democrats also voted to condemn MoveOn.org. It was 341-79 to condemn in the House and almost a similar margin in the Senate.

I agree with EJ Dionne that Congress should vote to condemn Trump's handling of Charlottesville.

The proper response is for Democrats and Republicans willing to take a stand to force a vote in Congress condemning the president for his opportunistic obtuseness and making clear where the vast majority of Americans stand on white supremacy. This is important for many reasons, but especially to send a message to America’s minorities that whites are willing to do more than offer rote condemnations of racism.
