Rochester, NY-based group called Eastside Antifascists took still images of Kuhn and distributed 250 fliers bearing his photo throughout the Honeoye Falls area with the slogan, No Nazis in our neighborhood.
***
Kuhn says hes not a racist, but that he traveled the nearly 500 miles from Honeoye Falls to Charlottesville to protest the removal of a Confederate monument to Gen. Robert E. Lee from Charlottesvilles Emancipation Park.
Its a piece of history, and I thought that it should remain, Kuhn said. Its important to me that we preserve American history no matter how ugly the past is its associated with.
Im not a neo-Nazi, he insisted. I dont belong to a German workers party from 1933. Im a moderate Republican.

(19,204 posts)how many of these nitwits live in New York, especially in what's called "The Southern Tier" (southern NY, along the PA border). Honeoye Falls is about 50 miles north of that area, but close enough. I've run into a lot of these fascist bastards down in that area over the years. Rebel flags mounted on the back of their pick-up trucks. No AMERICAN flags, just Confederate flags.
I went to Alfred University, back before the earth's crust was cool, and we "Northerners" used to call the area "Pennsyltuckey", because it was more attuned to southern living than Yankee living. It was a strange place. I'd never lived in a place like that before. Is was a dry town, no alcohol sold, but EVERYONE had it. That's where I first tasted moonshine, and I never tasted it again. Man........the memories that just cam flooding back of that place.

I was on the fence for a while about removing the statues until I learned two things:
First: I hadn't realized they were put up during the Civil Rights movement
Second: If it bothers this segment of society (Nazis/white supremacists) that much, it has to be the right thing to do.

The amateur sleuthing campaign to identify torch-bearing Charlottesville marchers has literally landed on the doorsteps of village of Honeoye Falls residents.
Hundreds of them, maybe thousands, this week found flyers on their property singling out a 21-year-old man named Jarrod Kuhn, who lives behind a shoe store on Main Street.

(4,221 posts)The black and yellow symbol patch on dude's polo shirt is from Anti-Communist Action - A far-right hate group according to SPLC
From this article about far right symbols and flags:
https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2017/08/12/flags-and-other-symbols-used-far-right-groups-charlottesville
The black and yellow colors refer to libertarianism, typically depicted on web forums under a black and yellow banner. Variations of the flag often feature helicopters dropping a figure from the sky, a reference to Augusto Pinochets brutal tactics of suppressing dissent.

The ONLY way you get to say "I wasn't really with them" is if you are on tape protesting AGAINST them or DEFENDING yourself or others against them. You get no quarter for after the fact finding an "alt-reason" for your presence.

(4,959 posts)"If 10 guys think 1 Nazi is alright in their group, they just became 11 Nazis."
And true. The way our politics work in the US, it is easy for most lines to be made blurry as we see on DU all the time - otherwise we'd agree on everything.
But when you are talking about Nazis and Fascists the line is fucking clear and you must pick a side. There is no middle ground. Claiming neutrality or equivocating means you are on the side of the Nazis and Fascists.
It is not enough to 'not be a Nazi' (or Fascist). If you aren't anti- Nazi, you are a fucking Nazi. Particularly at a time like this when people in the highest levels of our government are playing on that turf. This isn't a theoretical, philosophical question. This shit is real.

(1,525 posts)This is what a moderate Republican is now. A card carrying racist who believes that allowing any progress by non-whites somehow diminishes his world.
He wants "to take it back".
I love that phrase. Take it back from who? When you get it back what do you intend to do with it. If you are talking about rolling back civil progress to where do you intend to roll it back? 1950? 1860? 1776?
I know that all this isn't in this particular story. But this is what is going on in these people's hearts. They have been convinced that blacks and immigrants have stolen their country from the rightful owners (whites).
Once you believe that racist, rightwing facism flowers.
