This should never become a Bi-partisan issue. It's an issue of what's right and what's wrong and what our country stands for. For many of our fellow citizens these statues were a daily reminder of an abominable crime our nation committed and the stand those generals, etc. took on that crime. Period!

I'd make the states change their statues every 10-20 years. It would let them replace ones that no longer seem appropriate, and honor a greater selection of their state's notables.
