Oh shit! when will the justice department demand all of DU's users?

They are seriously after democrats...and this site could deliver us to 'them'.

What's to stop them? They care not about the constitution..they love putin, who has no restraints on power!

Will every anti trump comment be considered a felony? An incitement to riot?

on the positive side we have free speech & can call trump an asshole con man because he's an American president.

If he was a private citizen he could sue, like hes sued thousands of people.

DU where I see memes from FB, tweets and articles from other sources. Also, pick a topic, any topic, throw it into breaking news story and see what happens. It breaks (elsewhere), gets posted on DU and then 25 - 30 DUers have such profound thoughts they also start threads. Same topic, same sentiment...

Please.

So I don't think they'd find much - except maybe the Stephen Colbert or Seth Meyers monologues I posted, but I'm sure they already know about those.

I'm an EFF member and I have no problems suing for my privacy. And I will enlist EFF lawyers.

In J20 Investigation, DOJ Overreaches Again. And Gets Taken to Court Again.
By Mark Rumold
August 14, 2017

We’ve already written about problems with the government’s investigation into the J20 protests—a series of demonstrations on January 20, the day of President Trump’s inauguration—which resulted in the arrest of hundreds of protesters.

But prosecutors in DC are still at it. And they’re still using unconstitutional methods to pursue their investigation.

This time they served a search warrant on hosting provider DreamHost that would require the company to turn over essentially all information on a website it hosts, www.disruptj20.org—a site that was dedicated to organizing and planning the protest.

Did you click on that link? Well, that’s apparently information the government wants to know. In just one example of the staggering overbreadth of the search warrant, it would require DreamHost to turn over the IP logs of all visitors to the site. Millions of visitors—activists, reporters, or you (if you clicked on the link)—would have records of their visits turned over to the government. The warrant also sought production of all emails associated with the account and unpublished content, like draft blog posts and photos.

I may have as a link from here, so might any number of us here? Clicking a link now puts us in jeopardy? And not the game show!

They would fight before giving up the user list and would almost certainly prevail. They have several times in the past in other legal matters.

or encourage a violent rebellion against the Federal government.... you're safe. Everything else is covered under the First Amendment, and besides, the NSA and FBI have much bigger fish to fry than lil ol DU I know Skinner would fight them tooth and nail if they came knocking, unless they had a valid court order for a particular user.
